Jubilation filled the air in Delta State on Sunday as Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta, triumphantly welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and key leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC, marking what he described as a “new dawn” for the state.
In a rousing statement, Omo-Agege hailed the Governor’s defection as a monumental victory for the APC and a resounding validation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He declared that Delta State was now firmly on the path of unity, prosperity, and progressive governance.
“Today, history is made,” Omo-Agege proclaimed. “We joyfully welcome His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and thousands of patriotic leaders and members into our great party. Delta’s future just got brighter!”
The APC stalwart assured stakeholders that the transition was being managed with “prudence, vision, and unity,” following extensive consultations with the party’s national leadership, the Progressive Governors Forum, and Delta APC stakeholders.
In anticipation of the grand welcome rally scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025, in Asaba, Omo-Agege called on all local government and ward leaders, party members, and supporters to come out in massive numbers to celebrate what he termed “the biggest political realignment in the history of Delta State.”
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to President Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, and the National Working Committee for their strategic leadership, stating, “Their tireless efforts have birthed this great harvest for our party and for Nigeria.”
With Governor Oborevwori’s entry, analysts predict a dramatic shift in Delta’s political balance, setting the APC on a strong footing ahead of future elections. The atmosphere within the party is one of excitement, renewed energy, and high hopes for a more prosperous Delta State.
