FELD: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises at the Grassroots

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney

Walt Disney, the legendary American filmmaker and entrepreneur, built an empire through sheer determination and an unyielding belief in his dreams. With 26 Academy Awards to his name, Disney wasn’t just a creative genius—he was a man who lifted others along the way, giving countless people opportunities to thrive.

Today, that same spirit of courage, vision, and generosity is alive in Nigeria through the Foundation for Effective Leadership and Development (FELD)—a transformative initiative founded by Hon. Paul Adingwupu. A distinguished politician and IT expert, Adingwupu has carved a name for himself in Delta State politics while also changing lives through FELD.

Across Aniocha South, Aniocha North, Oshimili South, and Oshimili North, FELD’s impact is tangible. From youths to the elderly, from struggling entrepreneurs to eager students, the foundation is bridging gaps and creating opportunities through technical training, financial empowerment, volunteerism, and mentorship.

A Purpose-Driven Initiative

What sets FELD apart is its intentionality. Every programme, donation, and intervention is strategically designed to uplift those in need—whether by supporting small and medium-scale businesses or enhancing educational opportunities.

One of FELD’s flagship initiatives is My Education Quiz Play, a nationwide competition that welcomes students from all geo-political zones, religious backgrounds, and ethnic groups. Since its launch in 2012, the programme has awarded scholarships and cash prizes, helping students gain access to higher education.

According to Godfrey Osakwe, Project Director of My Education Quiz Play, the competition is not just about fun and games; it’s an engaging learning experience rooted in Nigeria’s curriculum. The weekly televised quiz provides a platform for students to showcase their knowledge, quick thinking, and academic prowess.

“Education is the foundation of any nation’s progress,” Osakwe emphasizes. “Through this competition, students can secure scholarships, easing their financial burdens and giving them a brighter future.”

FELD’s Core Objectives

As an NGO, FELD is committed to:

  • Harnessing grassroots potential by empowering individuals with education and skills.
  • Providing platforms for national progress by shifting mindsets towards positive change.
  • Supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across various sectors.
  • Engaging youths in productive ventures to reduce unemployment and social vices.
  • Inspiring community-driven development through leadership and volunteerism.

A Legacy of Service and Recognition

Hon. Adingwupu’s dedication to service has not gone unnoticed. In 2017, he received the NTA Asaba Meritorious Service Award for Excellence, a testament to his invaluable contributions to humanity.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, he paid tribute to his late mother, who single-handedly supported his education after his father’s passing when he was just nine years old. Having lived through hardship, Adingwupu understands the challenges many families face, which fuels his passion for giving back and empowering others.

Through FELD, he continues to make a lasting difference—one life, one business, and one student at a time. His story is not just inspiring; it is a blueprint for impactful leadership and service.
