In a forward-looking move to drive digital transformation and strengthen communication strategies within university governance, Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) hosted a dynamic Staff Capacity Building Workshop themed “Building Digital Information Ecosystems for Effective University Management and Public Relations” on April 15, 2025. The event, held at the Senate Building, was organised by the Information, Communication and Protocol (ICP) Unit in collaboration with Infinix Tech Cloud and ENLUKA Consultancy.
The workshop was designed to empower staff with essential skills and tools to thrive in the evolving digital information landscape, while enhancing strategic communication and public relations efforts. This initiative underscores ADUN’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the Nigerian university system.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubusi Ogbogbo, formally opened the event and warmly welcomed participants and facilitators. He was joined by key members of the university’s leadership, including Deputy Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral MM Abdullahi, the Registrar, and the Chief Librarian. In his remarks, Professor Ogbogbo stressed the vital role of digital innovation in realizing ADUN’s mission, commending the ICP Unit for leading such a forward-thinking initiative.
Delivering a goodwill message, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe, Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Delta State Chapter, praised ADUN’s leadership for recognising the importance of digital literacy in modern university administration. He emphasized that public relations extends beyond traditional media engagements, playing a pivotal role in stakeholder trust, institutional governance, and digital presence.
“Public relations is not just about media interviews or press releases,” Mr. Osakwe noted. “It’s embedded in our daily actions, our digital footprints, and the integrity of our information systems. Universities must adopt tools that support data-driven decision-making and transparent communication.”

A highlight of the workshop was the keynote presentation by Mr. Taiwo Akinosho of Infinix Tech Cloud, who unveiled the ADUN Student Information Desk (ASID) — a cutting-edge ERP solution tailored to transform the university’s internal communications, resource management, and student engagement. ASID promises to centralise data systems, streamline workflows, and foster institutional transparency.
Participants explored practical approaches to building and maintaining digital ecosystems, covering areas such as human resources, admissions, academic records, finance, and public engagement. Emphasis was placed on leveraging interconnected data systems for evidence-based planning and crafting impactful institutional narratives.
Other notable presentations were delivered by Makut Alfred Mashat, Head of Communications and Protocol (ICP Unit); Christabel Ebhonu, Head of Media & Documentation (ICP Unit); and Abiola Olaibi, representing the Deputy Director of ICT, ADUN.
The workshop concluded with a strong sense of shared vision and collaboration among staff, reaffirming ADUN’s dedication to innovation, excellence, and responsive leadership. Participants left inspired to apply the knowledge gained toward building institutional capacity and enhancing ADUN’s reputation as a progressive, future-ready university committed to societal advancement.
