Nigeria’s Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, has praised the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, to high heavens for helping in Community issues as related to 2nd Niger Bridge. Adding that he has good words for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, Obi of Onitsha and Asagba of Asaba.
The former two times governor of Lagos State disclosed the good working relationship with Obiano, Okowa, Asagba and the Obi of Onitsha towards the success of the 2nd Niger while responding to questions at a television programme “Journalists Hangout” anchored by Babajide Otitoju.
Displaying his oratorical prowess articulately with sound and brilliancy, Fashola disclosed that his biggest project is Kano and Abuja bridge followed by the 2nd Niger bridge.
While listing some projects that devised implementation now being completed by this Administration such as 2nd Niger Bridge, Bodo Bonny Bridge, Lagos Ibadan Express way, Apapa Oworonsoki concrete express way etc, BRF as Fashola is fondly called noted that to make life easy for appropriation, each region must agree on two to three projects on a consensus basis. But a situation in which each legislators wants a project in his area, will lead to budget mutilation.
Despite Babajide Kolade-Otitoju’s appearances to know all the projects, the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing gave a lecture that the pension funds are not idle. They were invested in Treasury Bills.
He said LEKKI Bridge is to serve as a Lagos identity but it is a baby bridge when compared to the 2nd Niger bridge.
Fashola noted that the old Niger Bridge is being maintained but it is a single carriage bridge compared with the new one that is double carriage with a pedestrian walk way.
