The Delta State Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (DACCIMA) has inaugurated a new eight-member executive council to lead the association’s affairs for the next two years, with a renewed commitment to strengthening the private sector and fostering economic growth in Delta State.

The newly constituted leadership, drawn from affiliate chambers across the state, is led by Engr. Anthony Okoh of the Warri Chamber of Commerce as President, alongside Lucky Otegheri (1st Deputy President), Davidson Urietowhado (2nd Deputy President), Bamidele Ayodele (Financial Secretary), Dennis Nwanoye (Treasurer), Afoke Koko (Publicity Secretary), Favour Akprochinwrae (Welfare Officer), and one Vice President yet to be confirmed.

The inauguration ceremony took place during the association’s 12th Annual General Meeting and Investiture Ceremony at Topview Hotel, Asaba, with dignitaries from the Delta State Government, traditional institutions, and key players in the business community in attendance.

Outgoing President’s Scorecard and Trade Fair Appeal

In his valedictory address, outgoing president Dr. Anthony Idigbe, SAN, represented by Chief Simon Asite, outlined key milestones achieved during his tenure, including:

  • Development of DACCIMA’s website and social media platforms
  • Reactivation of the association’s bank account
  • Registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
  • Establishment of an Arbitration Centre in Asaba to offer alternative dispute resolution for business owners
  • Hosting of training programs, webinars, and business development sessions
  • Signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to host a Trade Fair in Osubi — though the project was stalled due to land acquisition challenges

Dr. Idigbe appealed to the Delta State Government to partner with the new administration to bring the proposed Trade Fair to fruition, describing it as a critical initiative to stimulate business activities and attract investments to the state.

“We trust the new leadership under Engr. Anthony Okoh will consolidate on these gains and break new frontiers in driving economic development,” he added.

New President Charts Path for Growth

In his inaugural speech, Engr. Anthony Okoh pledged to reposition DACCIMA as a catalyst for private sector development and a strategic partner to the government in creating an enabling business environment.

He applauded the Delta State Government’s recent approval of a ₦1 billion intervention loan for MSMEs through the Bank of Industry, describing the initiative as a game-changer in empowering entrepreneurs, creating jobs, and boosting the local economy.

“This single-digit loan will significantly stimulate small businesses and generate employment opportunities across the state,” Okoh said.

He further announced his administration’s commitment to:

  • Promoting women-owned businesses and creating more women millionaires through targeted support programs
  • Launching the Youth Entrepreneurs Development Initiative to provide training, mentorship, and funding access for young business owners
  • Strengthening DACCIMA’s advocacy role in shaping business-friendly policies in Delta State

Women Inclusion and Secretariat Commissioning

In a passionate address, the Coordinator of DACCIMA Women Group, Ms. Erhumun Ekperanum, called on the new leadership to promote greater inclusion of women in the association’s decision-making processes — a request that was acknowledged by the presiding chairman.

As part of the event, the newly renovated DACCIMA Secretariat Building at the NACO Office in Asaba was officially commissioned by Mrs. Patricia Idiakhoa, Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), alongside other stakeholders.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Delta State Government, the Asagba of Asaba, and prominent figures from the state’s business ecosystem.

Stakeholders Express Optimism

With the new leadership in place, stakeholders expressed confidence in DACCIMA’s ability to serve as a voice for the private sector, advocate for business-friendly policies, and play a pivotal role in driving sustainable economic growth in Delta State.

Engr. Okoh assured members that his administration would prioritize partnerships, inclusivity, and capacity-building to unlock new opportunities for businesses across the state.

“Our vision is to build a stronger DACCIMA that empowers businesses, supports entrepreneurs, and contributes meaningfully to Delta State’s economic transformation,” he affirmed.
